Aaron Held: Blue Heron

August 2001: Systems Installation: Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing

Blue Heron's 12 volt electrical system is powered from a Group 24 size, Deep Cycle/Starting combination battery located in the aft storage compartment. Most of Blue Heron's wiring, however, is located inside the center console where the main circuit breaker and control panel, gauges, switches and electronics are placed.

Drilling additional holes into the console for devices such as 12 volt "cigarette lighter" style outlets.

A "rat's nest" of wires before they were zip-tied off into bundles.

A shot of the rear storage compartment showing the positive and negative battery buss terminals and power relay. The relay will provide up to 30A of switched accessory power for Blue Heron when the ignition is in the "on" position.

In the photo above, I am making connections under the cowl of the Tohatsu 18hp engine.
